Muscle Memory

I love it when a lace pattern becomes second nature and your hands glide along knitting fluidly, halting occasionally to double check because something doesn't feel right.

That something about lace that compels you to just knit 1 more repeat and another and then 1 more after that.

This is my new favorite pattern and it looks great in all the semi-solid hand dyed yarns that are so popular right now.

Pattern: Child's First Sock in Shell Pattern from Knitting Vintage Socks by Nancy Bush
Needles: US 1, 2.25 mm Kollage square dpns
Yarns: Madelinetosh, Tosh Sock in Mourning Dove, Knit Picks Stroll Tonal in Gypsy and BMFA Socks That Rock Lightweight in Rose Quartz.

# 1 Ladies Bookclub in the Park

Every August my bookclub meets in our neighborhood park. Our newest member, Ashley is 9 months pregnant. She and her husband moved here recently from Texas and are still settling in.
We thought some knitterly Stumptown hospitality was in order.

Ashley was surprised and elated by all her goodies, especially the gift certificate to the spa just for moms (who knew) and all the handmade baby knits.

I was pretty happy about the wine and the beautiful cupcakes with flowers from Sarah's garden!

All the food and good company

And a lace pattern that is lovely yet easy enough to knit while socializing.
Behold WIP Shetland Triangle
I can hardly put it down it is so soothing to knit. The yarn is Aran Silky Merino in 'Sangria over Garnet' from Sundara.
We are off to Joseph Oregon for a week. I'm not sure if I can block a lace shawl while on vacation, but I'm sure gonna try!

Quick Lace Scarf

So here is the quick lace scarf I made this weekend for Megan. It is a vine lace stitch from Barbara Walkers Treasury of knit stitches, volume 1, in Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk Aran, knit with US 10 1/2 needles. I was concerned that it might be too pedestrian but was very happy with the results once it was blocked, I wish you could touch and feel it. Being fellow fiber fetishists I think you can imagine the luxury of it.
